The Lonely Island: Illustration

I didn't want to just tackle film and television for this brief. I knew I wanted to work with music aswell, so I decided to look into designing a small illustration for The Lonely Island's 'Captain Jack Sparrow'. This was a great task for me as it forced me to draw a character from beginning to end, no short cuts and avoidance. I decided to interpret the Michael Bolton caricature from the music video and below are the design variations I came up with.

I settled on the final version seen below. I think it was the links of blue/green to the nautical theme of the song. I am please with the final outcome and will now apply it to a range of stationery items for the purposes of the brief.
